Tea Cup Poms:

So you want a tiny little puppy.  Why would you want such a tiny little dog.  They are very prone to health issues and bones break so very easily.  Which can cost thousands of dollars to repair.  The AKC standard for Poms is between 4 - 7 pounds.  This is a tiny dog.  If you have children or family members who do not understand how fragile a Pomeranian is you may not want a little dog.

These (TOY or TEA CUP)  little dogs have been bred by taking the runt of litters and breeding them together.  We all know that the runt of any litter is subject to many health issues.  Often these little puppies die before they are 10 weeks old.   A good breeder is looking to develop a line of dogs that are healthy physically and mentally.

There is no such thing as a "teacup Pomeranian."

I breed 4 1/2 - 7 1/2 pound females and  4 - 6 1/2 pound males to insure that our puppies stay within the AKC standard.  Our females are not bred constantly and are a healthy breeding size.

Occasionally a healthy puppy from two standard sized parents will be born and will end up being smaller than the standard.  These tiny dogs will be sold  as spayed/neutered pets only.  And will be place in special pet homes only.

Also occasionally a puppy will be bigger than their parents or the breed standard.  These are called "throwbacks'  Poms were once 30-40 lbs and although they have been bred down over the years, occasionally a Puppy will get a gene that will make it larger than standard. Usually around 10-18 pounds.  Sometimes up to 20 lbs.
